EXPERT WITNESS SERVICES

DACS provides Expert Witness services to clients and attorneys for cases for trial, mediation, and arbitration.  Services typically include some or all of the following activities: a review of relevant issues with clients and attorneys, on-site review of the subject residence or building, preliminary verbal reports, preparation of expert reports, responding to expert reports, coordination with other experts, depositions, and testimony. “Standard of care” and “workmanlike manner” issues are a substantial aspect of this work.

Plans examinations

DACS has provided Plans Examination services for Building Departments in five cities, one village, and three counties in Ohio and is always looking to expand its Plans Examination services to other Building Departments throughout Northeast Ohio.

on-site reviews & building assessments

Either as part of Expert Witness services or as a stand-alone service, DACS provides on-site reviews and building assessments for clients concerned about their constructed projects (or projects being constructed).  Assessments may include a review to determine compliance with current codes, a review for water infiltration or other types of building or system failures, or a review of the general condition of the building or residence.

code consulting

DACS provides code consulting assistance for building owners, institutions, attorneys, architects, and other entities that require guidance and opinions regarding existing or proposed commercial and residential construction.  Areas of expertise include the Ohio Building Code, the Residential Code of Ohio, and the International Building Code.

SPECIALTY reports

DACS provides specialty reports that are customized for our clients’ specific needs.  Verbal and written reports are prepared for insurance companies that need an assessment of the conditions at sites of insurance claims; pre-purchase reports are prepared for universities and other organizations, and repair assessments along with an opinion of cost are provided for clients after a wall collapse, fire, or other significant events.
