Duber Architectural & Consulting Services, LLC (DACS) was established in 2013 by James Duber to provide specialized architectural services for clients. Duber Architectural & Consulting Services, LLC provides expert witness services for clients and attorneys for cases involving standard of care requirements for contractors and architects. Services offered by DACS include the review of commercial and residential construction, the preparation of expert reports and other expert witness services, on-site inspections, and testimony at depositions and trials. Additionally, DACS provides Plans Examination services to multiple city and county building departments for commercial and residential projects. DACS brings extensive experience and professionalism to every case and project, and we customize our service to the individual needs and concerns of our clients.
Mr. Duber received his Architectural license in Ohio in 1995 and was certified by the International Code Council and the State of Ohio as a Master Plans Examiner in 2008. In 2019, Mr. Duber was certified by NCARB and received his certification as a Building Official from the International Code Council and the State of Ohio. Mr. Duber is also licensed to practice architecture in Iowa. Additionally, Mr. Duber is certified as a Building Plans Examiner, Mechanical Plans Examiner, Electrical Plans Examiner, and Plumbing Plans Examiner by the International Code Council.
Mr. Duber is also a partner at Envelope Consulting Services, LLC, which provides a range of services related to restoring and repairing building facades, and roofs, as well as general architectural design. His special areas of concentration include Forensic Architecture, Restoration and Repair, Historic Design, Construction Document Detailing, and Contract Administration.

EXPERT WITNESS SERVICES
DACS provides Expert Witness services to clients and attorneys for cases for trial, mediation and arbitration. Services typically include some or all of the following activities: a review of relevant issues with clients and attorneys, on-site review of the subject residence or building, preliminary verbal reports, preparation of expert reports, responding to expert reports, coordination with other experts, and testimony at depositions and/or trials. “Standard of care” and “workmanlike manner” issues are a substantial aspect of this work.

ON-SITE evaluationS AND BUILDING ASSESSMENTS
Either as part of Expert Witness services or as a stand-alone service, DACS provides on-site evaluations and building assessments for clients concerned about their constructed projects (or projects being constructed). Evaluations and assessments may include a review to determine compliance with current codes, a review for water infiltration or other types of building or system failures, or a review of the general condition of the building or residence.
CODE CONSULTING
DACS provides code consulting assistance for building owners, institutions, attorneys, architects and other entities that require guidance and opinions regarding existing or proposed commercial and residential construction. Areas of expertise include the International Building Codes, the Ohio Building Code, and the Residential Code of Ohio.
SPECIALTY REPORTS
DACS can provide specialty reports that are customized for our clients specific needs. Verbal and written reports can be prepared for insurance companies that need an assessment of the conditions at sites of insurance claims; pre-purchase reports can be prepared for universities and other organizations, and repair assessments along with an opinion of cost can be provided for clients after a wall collapse, fire or other significant event.
